Founded in 1990, we are one of the premier yacht clubs in the Pacific North West.  With thirteen cruises a year, we are certainly the most active.  Most of our members live on the Eastside, however this is by no means a prerequisite.  If you enjoy boating, are new to boating or just want to find out more, please browse around the site, and don't forget to contact us for more information!

BYC Member Benefits

Monthly Cruises

Every month the club hosts an organized cruise to one of the many exciting and beautiful destinations within 75 miles of our Home Port.  We cruise Puget Sound, the San Juans as well as the B.C Islands. The Fleet Captain determines our cruise destinations a year in advance to help our members plan their boating adventures. Each cruise is hosted by member volunteers and includes fun and games for the entire family. Cruising is at the very heart of BYC! Cruises are paid for, in part, by your monthly dues.

Many of our members look forward to our annual Wagon Wheel in Andrews Bay on Lake Washington. The Wagon Wheel forms in July every year

Our first Wagon Wheel, and a typical scene from one of our monthly cruises, are pictured below.

Monthly Dockside Dinner Socials

On the first Friday of the month from April until October the Club holds a potluck Dockside Social at our Home Port.  As with our monthly cruises, a member volunteer host helps organize the event. Each Dockside Social is themed and the September event features the Seafair Pirates band.

A good time is guaranteed for all members of the family. Dockside Socials are paid for, in part, by your monthly membership fees.

Other Social Activities

The Club sponsors an annual holiday party where members feast and dance the night away to a live band. Members often arrange impromtu gatherings around other boating and non-boating local events.  Last year, several members rafted up together in Lake Union to watch the annual 4th of July fireworks.  On summer weekend days, members also often raft up in Andrews Bay on Lake Washington.

We often see each other at the Kingston Outstation or at the many reciprocal docks we enjoy as a Club.

Outstation and Reciprocal Moorage

Our Kingston Outstation serves as a jumping off point for many members starting a longer cruise or just a week end on the Sound. A short cruise from the Locks, Kingston allows many club members to depart late on Friday evenings and get a predictable start in the morning for the day's cruise activities.

BYC enjoys reciprocal mooring privileges at over 30 yacht clubs around the Puget Sound area.

Your monthly membership fee gives you free access to great boating destinations.

Boating knowledge

BYC club members are boating enthusiasts who understand how their boats work and actively help each other solve challenging mechanical and electrical issues. Our leadership bridge is keenly aware that boating has a serious side and safety of members and their guests is always of paramount  concern.

Modest Dues

Our initiation fee is $350 and our dues are $35 per month, payable quarterly.

We have low overhead; a fact many of our members really like.

Your monthly membership fee helps support our active cruising and dockside dinner social events.

Some members think that BYC is "free" because of all the great benefits our members enjoy.
